OBITUARY OF FRED GARITZ  (17 May 1847 - 1913)


Fred GARITZ, whose death we mentioned last week, was born in Germany May 17, 1847. He came to America when twenty five years of age and settled first in Sheboygan. In later years he came to Spencer where he was married to Elizabeth DIMLER. They moved to the town of Beaver thence to Greenwood, where he lived most of his life. Nine children were born to them, eight of who still survive, they are Mrs. H. A. MILLER, Minnie, and Reuben of Portland, Ore., Mrs. C. L. HUBBLE of Hemlock, Mich., William, Alice Arthur and Dorothy of this place. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Monday afternoon, Rev. Otto SAEWERT and W. T. HENDREN officiating. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery.
