HAROLD BENDER SERVICES AT YORK METHODIST CHURCH


Funeral services were held at York Center United Methodist Church on Monday for Harold Bender, 71, of 725 East 3rd St., Owen, with Rev. Gene Carlson officiating. Interment was at York Center.


Gibertson Funeral Home in Granton was in Charge of arrangements.


The pallbearers were Donald Rowe, Clarence Hasely, Herman Seebandt, Franklin Walter, Joe Pernsteiner Jr. and Richard Eibergen.


Hymns were sung by Nyle Benedict and Milford Rowe, accompanied by Mrs. Milford Rowe.


Mr. Bender was born in Richland County in 1905, and lived at Columbus and Sherwood, and also in Western states for some time. He was a veteran of World War II.


On Nov. 9, 1946, he married the former Violet Poziombka. They lived on a farm in the Town of York until 1966, when ill health forced him to retire. They had moved to Owen in 1975.


In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Ruth) Strey of Owen, two step-children, Mrs. Janet Anderson, Libertyville, Ill. and Philip Haelen of Chicago, three sisters, Mrs. Helen Henninger of Granton and Mrs. Elsie Johanknecht and Mrs. Marie Johanknecht, both of Waupaca, three brothers, Vern of Chili, Forest of Union Gap, Wash. and three grandchildren.
