HOME GLEANINGS.
Fred Abel, who has been working for the
Northwestern Lumber Co. at A. G. Gaffney's camp on section 11 west
of the river, was killed Wednesday noon at 12:30, while working on
the landing. The logs gave way and two logs rolled onto him.
The body was taken from the pile and
brought home to his father's. Mr. Gaffney was near the landing and
saw the logs begin to roll and yelled to Abel but he did not get
out of the way. Ed Hawkins who was working with him escaped. Fred
Abel is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Abel of the West Side, and is
about twenty-three years old.
