HERMAN GOSSE SUCCUMBS TO ILLNESS AT HOME IN ELKHART LAKE


Herman Gosse, aged 77 years, died of apoplexy Thursday at his home in Elkhart Lake. The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Reformed Church, Rev. Mr. Vriesen officiating. Burial will be made in the town of Herman cemetery, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin.


Decedent was born in Germany, July 5, 1838, and lived there until he was 10 years old, coming to this country in 1848 and for the next 41 years making his home in the town of Herman near the Mission House. He married Miss August Ziemann in 1863, and the couple lived on a farm until five years ago, when they moved to Elkhart Lake.


Besides his wife, Mr. Gosse is survived by eleven children, including seven daughters and four sons as follows: Mrs. Mary Sieker, Franklin Mrs. Louis Franz, Mosel Mrs. Meta Boedeker, Greenwood, Clark County, WI Mrs. Clara Franzmeier, Newton Mrs. Martha Wilke, Lyndon Mrs. Tina Richter, Rhine Herman, Elkhart Lake Ferdinand of the Mission House Theodore, Rhine Martin, town of Plymouth. There is one sister living, who makes her home in Iowa. Forty grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive him.


Six son-in-law will act as pall bearers at the funeral.


Note: seventh daughter, Johanna Gosse Pokel was not mentioned in above obit.


Note: from newspaper microfilm with death noted as July 15, 1915. The one living sister would have been Augusta Gosse Schutte Luloff who lived in Buchanan Co. Iowa.
