OBITUARY OF MRS. A. A. HALE
Mrs. A. A. Hale, formerly Elizabeth Marion
Brown, was born in Schenectady, N.Y., April 23, 1850, came to Lime
Ridge when sixteen years of age and grew to womanhood in that
vicinity, finishing her education with one of the first classes of
Baraboo, Wis. After teaching several terms of school, she was
united in marriage to Alonzo A. Hale, also of Lime Ridge.
To this union five children were born, namely: Mrs. L. E. Grimmes
of Hillsboro, Wis., Mrs. Wm. Marden of Greenwood, Wis., Henry A.
Hale of Greenwood, Wis., and Mrs. H. A. Wood of Sparta, Wis., and
one son who died in infancy, also fifteen grandchildren and eleven
great grandchildren.
She resided in Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., from 1904 - 1912,
when they moved to a farm near Black River Falls, where they
resided until three years ago, when she became an invalid. She then
divided her time with her two daughters, first with Mrs. W.W.
Marden and the past 18 months with Mrs. L. E. Grimmes, where she
quietly passed away Jan. 4, 1929. Her husband preceded her in death
June 28, 1928.
All the family were present at the funeral with one exception, the
son being unable to attend.
Funeral services were conducted at the home of her daughter, Jan.
88 and the body was laid to rest in the Hillsboro cemetery, Rev.
Raymond Warren officiating.
