CLARENCE GREENE SERVICES HELD AT LOYAL


Former Greenwood, Clark County resident Clarence R. Greene, 93, died at the Memorial Home at Neillsville on April 19, 1976. He had been a resident the last three years.


Clarence Ralph Greene was born on Nov. 13, 1882, in Columbus, Ohio. At age 18 the family moved to Greenwood, Wis., where they farmed. He then took employment on a steamboat on the Columbia River at Wenatchee, Wash., after which he returned to Greenwood and worked for C. C. Hoehne Hardware Co. for 21 years, then went into the plumbing and heating business himself until moving back to Ohio. Later he returned to Wisconsin and worked for McGonigal Hardware in Loyal and Sears, Roebuck in Marshfield until retirement.


Mr. Greene was married to the former Belva Shoemaker in June 1905 in Thorp.


Survivors include Mrs. Douglas (Beatrice) Goehring, Buchanan, Mich. and a son, Orville, of Loyal and four grandchildren, plus five great-grandchildren. His wife and two daughters preceded him in death.


The body will lie in state at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 21 and services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 22, with Rev. Gene Carlson officiating. Rinka Funeral Home is in charge.

Greene, Clarence (13 November 1882 – 19 April 1976)

Clarence Greene, 93, of Memorial Home and formerly of Greenwood, died Monday afternoon, April 19. Funeral services are to be held at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at the Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, with the Rev. Eugene Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation was to be after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Clarence Greene was born November 13, 1882, at Columbus, Oh. His marriage to the former Belva Shoemaker took place in June of 1905 in Thorp. Mrs. Greene preceded her husband in death.

Mr. Greene received his education in Columbus and came to Greenwood at the age of 18, farming in the Town of Beaver for 13 years. He was then employed for 21 years with the C.C. Hoehne Hardware Company of Greenwood as a master plumber.

From 1925-1936 he operated his own heating and plumbing business. In 1936, he returned to Ohio. After moving back to Clark County, Mr. Greene was employed in 1946 by LaGonigal Hardware in Loyal. Later, he worked for Sears and Roebuck of Marshfield. Mr. Green retired in 1953. The Greenes lived in Park Falls and Butternut Lake for approximately 10 years of their retirement.

Survivors include one son, Orville of Loyal; one daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Beatrice) Goehring of Buchanan, Mi.; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
