OBITUARY OF G.W. HINDAL
George Washington Hindal was born near
Evansville, Wis., on Jan. 9, 1852 and closed a useful career on the
31st days of Aug. 1928. He had lived 76 years, 7 months and 22
days.
He was in the home of his son Irva, where for some time he had made
his home and to him there the passing came.
April 18, 1878 the deceased was united in marriage to Arminda H.
Steele and this union thus formed continued until Nov. 16, 1907
when the wife preceded the husband to that home beyond. To this
union were born seven children, two of whom died in infancy. The
other five remain today to join in the sorrow of this occasion.
Verda, now Mrs. Oren Lillibridge of Greeley, Iowa Bernice, now Mrs.
Ralph Benning of Earlville, Iowa Bessie, wife of Jay Durfey of
Manchester, Iowa Glen G. of Mason City, Iowa and Irva of Greenwood,
Wis. There are also 9 grandchildren to mourn the loss of a kind and
loving grandfather.
The subject of this sketch is the eldest child of a family of
eleven children.
His death is mourned by his four brothers, Eli and Jason of
Edgewood, Iowa John of Dodge Center, Minn. Art of Mason City, Iowa
and one sister Mrs. Alice Lillibridge of Greeley, Iowa.
His four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Chase, Mrs. Clara Parson, Mrs.
Margaret Bullis and Mrs. Mary Powers and one brother Dan preceded
him in the mystic Voyage.
A short funeral service was conducted at the home by Rev. Dyre on
Sunday, Sept. 2nd, after which the body was taken to Edgewood,
Iowa, to be laid to rest beside his wife.
