Donald W. Hoffman, 76, East Moline, IL, formerly of Thorp, died Saturday, May 29, 1999 in Illini Hospital in Silvis.

Donald was born April 6, 1923 in Chicago the son of Frank and Josephine (Slupski) Hoffman. He married Margaret Kobylarczyk in Thorp on June 18, 1949. He retired in 1986 after 35 years as a supervisor at the Commonwealth Edison Nuclear Plant in Cordova, IL. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in East Moline. He enjoyed golf, traveling, gardening, as well as jazz and big band music. He loved his family and grandchildren.

Survivors are his wife Margaret three daughters: Linda (Pete) Beale, Port Byron, Cindy (Bruce) Gengler of LeClaire, IA, Debra (Steve) Karr of Moline two grandchildren: Peter and Jessica his father Frank Hoffman of Marshfield, WI and one brother, Ray Hoffman of Greenwood, WI. He was preceded in death by his mother and an infant brother Robert.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 3, 1999 at St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Thorp with Father John Puerner officiating. Burial will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery, Thorp. Visitation was on Monday, May 31, 1999 at the Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. in Moline from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at Thorp Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2 with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary service.
