Mary Hoffman (1907 - 2000)

Mary M. Hoffman, 92, Dorchester, Clark County, WI died Thursday, Jan. 20 at St. Joseph's in Marshfield under palliative care.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester with Rev. James Schaefer officiating. Burial took place at St. Mary Cemetery in the Town of Little Black.

The Jarocki Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Rice Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

The former Mary Heier was born on November 2, 1907 at Medford to the late John and Catherine (Vogt) Heier. She grew up in Medford and attended Holy Rosary Catholic School. After her education, she worked in area homes doing home care.

Her marriage to Carl C. Hoffman, who died in December of 1989, took place on September 17, 1929 at Medford. They lived in Rib Lake before buying a dairy farm in the Town of Little Black, which they operated for 54 years. During this time she worked for the Medford Laundry and Don's Dry Cleaners for a number of years. After retiring and selling their farm, they moved to rural Dorchester.

 
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, where she also worked in the rectory Sacred Heart Altar Society St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester Monica church circle Women Catholic Foresters Dorchester Lioness and Rice Lake Women of the Moose. She enjoyed sewing, quilt making, crocheting, playing cards, and doing volunteer mission work.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Kay (Paul) Bach, Dorchester, and Bea (Larry) Jarocki, Rice Lake one sister, Lenore Ruesch, Medford two brothers, Raymond and Glenn Heier, both of Medford 18 grandchildren 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son Charles in November of 1974.
