PROMINENT WOMAN DIED LAST THURSDAY
Mrs. Oscar Horn passed away at her home in
the town of Reseberg, northwest of Greenwood, Clark County,
Thursday morning, January 12, 1928, aged 40 years, 5 months and 16
days. Mrs. Horn had been in ill health and a run down condition for
some time, due to taking care of her children, who had all been ill
with pneumonia. A nervous breakdown was the cause of her death.
Lischen Damerow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Damerow, was born
July 26, 1887 in Lubow, Pommern, Germany. On April 12, 1902 the
family moved to the town of Longwood. On Setp. 22, 1915, she was
united in marriage to Oscar Horn. For several years they resided in
this city, where Mr. Horn was engaged in the photographer business.
Later they moved onto a farm in the Town of Reseburg, which was her
home until now. To this union were born five children, all
living.
Those who remain to mourn her death are her husband and the
following children: Arline, Kenneth, Helen, Leroy and Violet.
Besides these she is also survived by her father, Karl Damerow,
three sisters, Mrs. Edward Braun of the town of Longwood, Mrs. Geo.
Fiske of Milwaukee and Agnes Damerow of Chicago, and four brothers,
Herman and Paul of the town of Warner and Karl and William of
Chicago. A large number of other relatives and friends also mourn
her loss.
Mrs. Horn was a woman of fine qualities, both in private and public
life. In her home she was a kind and loving mother in the community
a helpful and obliging neighbor, ever ready to lend a hand where
help was needed.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon in the Braun Settlement
Reformed Church, Rev. E.G. Pfeiffer of Greenwood officiating. The
large gathering of neighbors and friends from far and near
testified to the esteem in which Mrs. Horn was held. The body was
laid to rest in the Braun Settlement Cemetery.
