A DOUBLE FUNERAL.
On Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church in Neillsville occurred
what has been rare in this community a double funeral. George
Hotelling, and old resident of this locality and his daughter Mrs.
Frank La Vine of Hewitt being laid to rest at the same time side by
side in the Neillsville cemetery, services being held by Rev. W. P.
Burrows.
George Hotelling was born Feb. 17, 1825 at Loraine, Jefferson
County, New York. He came to Farmington Jefferson County, Wis., in
1845 and was married to Miss Matilda Crawford, Dec. 25, 1850. In
1883 they moved on a farm four miles north of Neillsville where
they lived till two years ago. To them were born eight children
five of whom are still living, Mrs. Matilda Lang and Mrs. Etta
Payne of Wilbur, Wash., William of Colfax, Wash., Ella La Vine of
Woodburn, Ore., and Mrs. Myrtle Robinson of Christie.
Deceased was a worthy and upright
citizen, a good husband and kind father. He died on April 23, and
his daughter Mr. Georgiana La Vine died on Thursday, but a few
hours later than her father. She was born at Farmington, Wis., Jan.
31, 1853. She was married fifteen years ago to Frank La Vine of
Christie, and since that time they have made their home in the town
of Hewitt. Her husband survives her.
