REV. PAUL HULL DEAD
When the word came to G. W. Bishop Saturday afternoon to have a
grave prepared for burial of Greenwood's former popular M.E.
pastor, Rev. Paul Hull, it semed as though there must be some
mistake. Later word, however, only confirmed the report and Monday
evening's Central train brought the mortal remains of the beloved
pastor, accompanied by the stricken wife and near relatives and
friends from Hammond, where Rev. Hull has been serving.
Becoming suddenly ill from what proved to be appendicitis Mr. Hull
went to St. Paul for an operation in St. Luke's hospital, which was
to have been performed last Friday afternoon. When the operation
was begun, however, it was found that it was too late, other
complications having set in so that there was no hope. Death came
to his relief the same evening, the patient being conscious and
resigned to the last. The remains were brought to Greenwood, Clark
county for burial beside the remains of their two little boys who
passed to the better land while Rev. Hull was pastor here. A short
service conducted by Presiding Elder Straw was held from the M.E.
church at nine o'clock Tuesday morning. The church was prettily
decorated for the occasion by the members of the church and the
service was most impressive for all present.
Besides Mrs. Hull and their three daughters, there were present
Mrs. Hull's father, Mr. Hepburn of Prairie Farm, her brothers,
Neill and Harry of St. Paul, the former accompanied by his wife,
Bert Hull of Chicago, a nephew of the deceased, and a Mr. Norris
and Mesdames Staples and Sires of Hammond.
Rev. Hull was born in England some forty-one years ago and came to
this country in 1891. He married while serving on his first charge
at Prairie Farm. Greenwood was his second charge, he doing a
faithful and effective work here where he won a host of friends who
feel keenly the affliction that has come so suddenly to the wife
and three children, as well as all other who knew him.
