Frank J. Huntzicker Deceased.
Francis J. Huntzicker was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Huntzicker of
La Crosse on Oct. 13, 1885, and passed away at the Presbyterian
hospital at Chicago on Oct. 24, 1912. For a period of over two
years Frank had been a sufferer with severe headaches which came
with great frequency as the months went by. Upon his last visit to
Chicago as specialist there diagnosed his case as a malignant
growth in the head and this diagnosis was later verified and ageeed
that such growth was the cause of hemorrhages which resulted in his
death.
Frank attended school at Neillsville, Clark county, Wisconsin until
he was 14 years of age when he entered Shattuck Seminary at
Faribault, Minn. He graduated from this school and then went to
Columbia University in 1907 where he qualified as a civil engineer.
He was awarded highest honors of the school at Shuttuck and highest
honors of his class at Columbia. He was a member of the Theta Xi
fraternity.
After leaving school he followed his profession as engineer until
stricken with the disease which caused his death. He spent a few
months in the west and later accepted a position at Duluth. Frank
was a young man of more than ordinary promise and capability. He
was of a quiet and retiring disposition but of that disposition
which, when friends were made, retained them thru life. He was a
careful student and his mentality afforded him a deep insight upon
all problems which came to him in his profession. That he should
have been cut off in the prime of his manhood and career is a
Source of deepest sorrow and regret to his friends here and
elsewhere. Frank was a member of the Masonic fraternity, holding
membership in the Blue Lodge Chapter and Commandory of this city.
His remains were brought here last Friday morning and Sunday were
taken to Greenwood for interment.
The funeral was conducted by the Masons according to their ceremonies and traditions. Services were held at the M. W. A. Hall at Greenwood and in addition to the Masonic services, Dr. Warne of Chicago, a member of the faculty of Hanneman Medical college and an eminent speaker, gave a very fitting and eloquent sermon. Frank was laid to rest in the cemetery at Greenwood. He was a great lover of flowers and this trait was remembered by his friends in a most beautiful manner. He is survived by his mother, sister Mrs. W. L. Smith, and brothers, Fred and Victor.
Among those who were here for the funeral were Mrs. Mewad and Mrs.
L. Sullivan, his aunts, and Mrs John Lange, his cousin, of
Milwaukee, Geo. Huntzicker, of Marshfield, and Mrs. Brisbois and
Misses Brisbois and Means of Wausau.
