Otto Janko (1907 - 2000)
Otto W. Janko, 92, Medford, died Saturday,
March 11, at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford where he had resided
the past eight years.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15 at
Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Rev. Robert Ruprich
officiating. Burial took place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery
II.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, and on
Wednesday before the service, at Hemer Funeral Home.
Otto Janko was born on March 12, 1907 at the Town of Browning to
the late Henry and Anna (Leksa) Janko. He attended Cloverdale
Elementary School in the Town of Browning. At the age of 17, he
moved to Chicago where he worked as an auto mechanic for a period
of time. He had a private pilot's license.
His marriage to Sophie Chrobak, who died June 2, 1991, took place
on October 29, 1932 at Chicago. They moved to the Town of Browning
in 1942 where he farmed until retirement in 1972.
He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of
Dorchester, Clark co., WI. He enjoyed making home movies and flying
model airplanes.
He is survived by three grandchildren five great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by
two sons, Raymond in 1989, and Richard in 1993 two sisters, Julia
Lekies and Lydia Lichtl four brothers, Frank, Henry Jr., John, and
Edward.
