DAVE JUSTICE DEAD
Henry JOHNSON received a letter Tuesday
evening from Fred E. JUSTICE of Clarkston, Wash., stating that his
father died recently. Following is part of the letter dated the
8th: "Father died at 10 PM Sunday, Feb. 5, and was buried Tuesday
afternoon. He had been ill ever since last September and during the
past month had failed quite rapidly, the end being most
peaceful."
Mr. Justice was well known here, being one of the principal men in
the movement to have Greenwood incorporated as a city in 1891. He
was elected the first mayor and served three or four terms in that
office. He was the leading spirit in establishing the water works
and other public works. He was one of the hardware firm of Justice
Hartson in the latter '80's who built the brick store known as the
Justice building, later buying Mr. Hartson's interest and
conducting the business alone.
He was a member of Herules Lodge, I. O.
O.F., and of Linden camp M.W.A., being the first venerable consul
of the latter. He went west about seven years ago, locating
Washington. Mr. Justice was about 60 years of age.
