OBITUARY OF ROY KAYHART
Roy Kayhart was born on the farm upon which
he spent most of his life, Nov. 7, 1878. A short time after
finishing his schooling he took over the entire management of the
home farm and became one of Clark County's progressive farmers.
He also took a vital interest in the local affairs of the
community, having been connected with the Farmers and Merchants
Bank of Greenwood as one of its directors since its organization,
as well as having been connected with several other local
enterprises for the betterment of the community.
He was united in marriage in April 1913 to Nellie Ward of Antigo.
To this union three children were born, Mildred, Irene and
Inez.
He was fatally injured by one of his horses the evening of Feb. 13,
1922. The following morning hew was taken to the Marshfield
Hospital where everything that human agency could do was done to
aid in his recovery, but his injuries were too severe and he passed
away without regaining consciousness early Saturday morning Feb.
18, 1922. He leaves to mourn, besides the relatives above
mentioned, his mother, two sisters, Mrs. Fred Draper of Loyal and
Mrs. Wm. Swann of Neillsville, besides numerous relatives more
distant and a host of friends.
The funeral services were held from the Methodist Church of
Neillsville, Tuesday, the Rev. W. T. Scott officiating, with
Masonic services at the cemetery, where he was laid to rest beside
the remains of his father who was accidentally killed in the same
barn eleven years previous.
