AREA RESIDENT DIES AT AGE OF 94


GREENWOOD--Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zion United Church of Christ in Greenwood for Mrs. Christ Keiner, of Greenwood, Clark County, who died unexpectedly at her home at 1:15 p.m. Saturday Mar. 27, 1971. She had been confined to her home for the past seven years following a fall.


A Royal Neighbors Memorial Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today (Monday) at the Hill Funeral Home.


The Rev. David Logue, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Visitations may be made at the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood until 1 p.m. and then at the church.


The former Elise Romang, was born Sept. 7, 1876, in Gsteig, Canton Berne, Switzerland. At the age of seven, she came with her family to the United States to Black Creek Falls, now Athens in Marathon County. She received her education in the Athens schools.


She was married Nov. 22, 1895, in Wausau, to Christ J. Keiner, who preceded her in death May 25, 1946. After their marriage they made their home in Athens until 1920, where Mr. Keiner was in the meat market business.


In 1922, they moved to Greenwood, where Mr. Keiner and sons operated a meat market and grocery store until 1944. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1945.


Mrs. Keiner was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, the Women's Guild, the Legion Auxiliary and the Forest Queen Royal Neighbors.


Survivors include a son, Carl F. Keiner, Eau Claire four daughters, Miss Louise Keiner and Mrs. Hugh (Freda) Severson, both of Greenwood Mrs. Martha Corbin, Milwaukee and Mrs. Frederick (Edith) Gotz, Pittsville 10 grandchildren 30 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.


In addition to her husband, Mrs. Keiner was preceded in death by a son, a sister, and four brothers.
