LaGasse, Joyce (1925 - 1999)

 

Joyce LaGasse of Thorp, WI, age 73, passed away on Good Friday, April 2, 1999, at Marshfield Hospice Center, Marshfield, WI.


Joyce Katherine Wagner was born on July 4, 1925 to William S. and Florence (Conrad) Wagner. On October 14, 1944 she married her husband of 54 years, John (Jack) LaGasse in Chicago, IL. Through their union of marriage they raised four children.


Surviving are her husband, Jack of Thorp, WI three daughters and one son, 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren: Lois (Ed) Grajkowski of Beloit, WI and children Kurt (Michelle) Grajkowski and daughter Kara Karl (fiancee Cindy) Grajkowski Lynn (John) Knusta of Eau Claire, WI and children, Dixie (Mark) Martell, daughter Aleshia, stepchildren Mark, Adam, and Angela Shari (Jerry) Spies, and children E.J., and Natlie Jeannie (Eric) Dubberke and son Dawson Terry (Dick) Bellin of Casco, WI, and children Ed, Brad and Matthew Mark (Dawn) LaGasse of Thorp, WI, and children Jamie, Alex, Erin, Brock, Isaac, and Ian.


Also surviving are: two brothers: Dr. William (Janice) Wagner of Findlay, OH Dr. Richard (Karen) Wagner of Eau Claire, WI, and brother-in-law Wayne (Susan) LaGasse of Eau Claire, along with many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents Wm. S. and Florence Wagner, mother-in-law Norma Lantz, father-in-law John LaGasse Sr., and brother-in-law Keith LaGasse.


Joyce loved her ever growing family along with her hobbies of: golfing, bowling, swimming, reading, camping, traveling, crafts and crossword puzzles. Joyce attended the Wausau Business School and worked as a babysitter at the Thorp Public Library, Mattes Livestock Auction Market, was co-publisher of The Thorp Courier, and for 29 years worked a the Thorp Finance Corp.-ITT where she retired in 1986. For the past 13 years Joyce and Jack wintered in the Disney World area, Florida.


Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service on Friday, April 9th, 2:00 p.m. at the Thorp United Methodist Church, Thorp, WI. Her cremains will be buried in the East Thorp Cemetery with a private burial.
