John C. Langreck (1857 - 1942)


John Langreck, 85, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Max Statz, at 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning after an illness of more than a year.
Funeral services were held at the Schiller Funeral Home and at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rev. J. A. Biegler officiating. Interment took place in the Catholic cemetery.


Mr. Langreck was born May 18, 1857 to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Langreck of Liemke, Westphalen, Germany. He came to America at the age of seven, settling at St. Lucas, Iowa. He had been a resident of Clark county since 1912, at that time purchasing the John Raine farm at Pleasant Ridge.


Mr. Langreck was united in marriage to Mary Meiners at St. Lucas, Iowa, Feb. 19,1889. They were the parents of eleven children, two of whom are dead. Mrs. Langreck and their eleven children survive. They are: Henry, Grant John, St. Lucas, Ia. Herman, Springville, N. Y. Jake, Grant Agnes, Mrs. Henry Aumann, York, and Theresa, Mrs. Max Statz, Weston, twins Rose, Mrs. Ray Noll, Neillsville Francis, Weston and Ferdinand, Greenwood. Surviving are his wife, 44 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A brother, Henry, St. Lucas, Iowa, and twin sisters, Anna Meiners, Carroll, Ia., and Theressa Wreciks, of Howell, Neb., preceded him in death.
