Roy Langteau (1915 - 2000)
Roy Michael Langteau, 84, Colby, died Friday,
Jan. 7 at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital in
Marshfield.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 12 at
St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby with Rev. John Malik
officiating. Burial took place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in
the Town of Colby. Pallbearers were Jim Godin, Jim Langteau, Rob
Langteau, Ron Baumgartner, Brian Krug, and Dominic Langteau.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Maurina
Funeral Home in Abbotsford with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Roy M. Langteau was born June 1, 1915 to the late Leo and Katherine
(Habermeyer) Langteau at the Town of Little Black. He received his
education in the Town of Little Black. Following his education, he
worked in the Rib Lake area logging camps.
His marriage to the former Helen E. Boxrucker, who died January 7,
1986, took place on June 1, 1940 at St. Louis Catholic Church in
Dorchester. They resided in Stratford, Spencer, and then moved to
rural Colby in 1942 where they farmed and he worked as a carpenter
until 1977. They then moved in town at Colby.
On September 10, 1988, he married Jennie (Roberts) Zenker, who
survives, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. They have resided in
Colby, Clark County, WI since their marriage.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's
Knights of Columbus Council No. 5127.
In addition to his wife Jennie, survivors include one daughter,
Bonnie (Fay) Yost, Medford three brothers, Jerry (Angie),
Milwaukee, Kenneth (Joyce), Seymour, and Leonard (Jan), Chippewa
Falls one sister, Irene Schmid, Medford one step-daughter, Beverly
Metz, Sun Prairie six step-grandchildren and five
step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death
by two sisters, Marie Baumgartner and Lorraine Konkol one brother,
Arthur Langteau and one step-son, Ervin Zenker.
