LaSage, Robert (1921 - 1999)
Robert Joseph LeSage, 78, Stanley, WI died at his home on Saturday, July 31, 1999, at 5:15 p.m.
Bob was born February 18, 1921 the son of Howard and Frances
(Fisher) LaSage. Bob grew up in the Spencer area and attended
Sawyer School for 8 grades. His mother passed away when he was 13
years old. He helped his father with the Milk Route and various
farm chores. Bob was married to Helen Hoftiezer on July 27, 1942 at
Farmington, MN. Helen passed away April 2, 1980. Bob was inducted
into the U.S. Army on November 2, 1942. He served in the ETO as a
heavy vehicle driver with the 11th Armored Div. 41 Calvary Recon.
Bob fought in the Battle of the Bulge during this time. He was
honorably discharged in 1946. Bob was a milk hauler in the Stanley
area from 1946 till 1956. In 1959 he purchased a farm in the
Stanley area and retired in 1981. On July 24, 1981 Bob was married
to Henrietta Oemig at Elko, NV. She passed away on February 12,
1988. Bob was married to Katherine (Katie) Ebben on November 2,
1988 at Thorp, WI. They have lived in Stanley since.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine LaSage of Stanley, WI
sisters: Grace Genett of Menasha, WI, Ruth Genett of Neenah
brothers: Don LaSage of Las Vegas, NV, Ed LaSage of Neenah, WI 7
step-daughters 11 step grandchildren 3 step great grandchildren
many nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents,
wives Helen and Henrietta and 1 brother James.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 4, 1999 at
Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley with Father Robert Nelson
officiating. Burial was in Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation was
from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 3 at Plombon Funeral Home,
Stanley with a Vigil service 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. Military
rites were conducted by Thorp American Legion Post 118 and the
Stanley VFW.
Memorials may be sent to Northwest Home Care Hospice Program, Eau
Claire, WI.
