OBITUARY OF WILLIAM LITKA
William Fredrick LITKA, a resident of Clark
County for fifty-three years, died Wednesday morning, April 18,
1934, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles PICKRUHN, of old
age and infirmities, having reached the age of 89 years and 4
days.
Mr. LITKA was born in Fornholtz, Germany, on April 14, 1845. In
1881 together with his wife and family he came to Loyal, Clark
County, Wisconsin, and settled on a piece of wild land and by hard
work, he, with the help of his wife, cleared the land and made a
fine farm out of it. What hardships, privation and self denial
these early pioneers must have underwent only those who were
residents of this section can understand.
During his life he was a faithful Lutheran being one of the charter
members of the first Lutheran church at Loyal.
Funeral services were conducted at the Charles PICKRUHN home at
1:00 P. M. and at 2:00 P. M. at the German Lutheran church at
Loyal. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery, at Loyal beside
his wife. Rev. M. F. LEACHENSKY, of Loyal officiating.
He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Charles PICKRUHN of
Greenwood, Mrs. Earl STOVE and Herman LITKA of the town of Beaver,
William LITKA, and Mrs. Ralph PHILPOTT of Loyal and Mrs. Andrew
LYDIKSEN of Unity. Thirteen grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren. his wife and two children preceded him in death.
Since the death of his wife he has made his home with his daughter,
Mrs. Charles PICKRUHN and with his two sons. He was a loving and
kind father and good friend.
