Catherine C. Michlig (1904 - 1999)
Catherine C. Michlig, 95, Abbotsford, died on
Wednesday, Aug. 25 at the Continental Manor Nursing Home in
Abbotsford, where she had resided since April 1996.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 28 at St. Bernard's
Catholic Church in Abbotsford,Clark Co., WI. with Rev. Al
Jakubowski officiating. Interment will be in the Abbotsford Public
Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Robert Michlig, Bill Ewert,
Gene Frane, Mark Michlig, Larry Michlig and Kevin Michlig.
Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford assisted the family with
arrangements.
The former Catherine Handrick was born February 16, 1904 in Halder
to the late William and Catherine (Mazan) Handrick. Her marriage to
John Leo Michlig, who died on July 8, 1986, took place on January
8, 1924 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Halder. They lived in
Milwaukee, then later in Laona. In 1935, the couple farmed in the
Town of Mayville, rural Curtiss, until they moved to Abbotsford in
1973.
She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, and was an
honorary member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women. She was a
long time member of the Curtiss Homemakers Club.
Survivors include four sons, Jerome (Doreen) of Colby, Lavern
(Beatrice) of Dorchester, Hilarian "Mick" (Mona) of Curtiss, and
David (Beverly) of Abbotsford one daughter, Mary Ann (Donald) Frane
of Gilman 25 grandchildren 56 great-grandchildren and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Lorraine Ewert,
two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four brothers and two
sisters.
