SERVICES HELD FOR FORMER GREENWOOD RESIDENT


John Howard, age 53, died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 1976, at St. Joseph's Hospital of a heart attack. The body laid in state at Rinka Funeral Home on Monday, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. on Monday and was then taken to Illyiia Methodist Church for a 10:30 a.m. service on Wednesday, Sept. 8. Burial followed at the Illyiia Cemetery.


Mr. Howard was born May 26, 1923 at West Union, Iowa. He received his education in Iowa schools. He married the former Billie Jean Pitt at the Methodist Church in Greenwood on Mar. 23, 1947. She survives him.


He was employed in construction in California and moved to Greenwood, Clark County in 1968 and retired. He was a World War II veteran.


Surviving besides his wife are one daughter, Vivian at home and one son, Stanley, Fulda, German, U.S. Army four sisters, Mrs. Leota Murphy, Loyal Mrs. Jesse (Lola) Tomlinson, Greenwood Mrs. Melnard (Ellen) Hansen, Greenwood Mrs. Clarence (Doris) Nehlich, Eureka, S. D. four brothers, Harvey, Monona, Iowa Hugh Neillsville Glenn, Upland, Calif. and Theodore, Unity, Wis. He is also survived by one grandchild.
