Alfred J. Nikolay (1918 - 1999)
Alfred J. Nikolay, 81, died October 12 at St.
Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. A memorial service will be held on
Saturday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in
Abbotsford, Clark County, WI.
Alfred Nikolay was born March 29, 1918 at Rozellville to the late
Jacob and Anna (Illig) Nikolay. He was an Army veteran of WWII,
having served in the Pacific area and the Army of Occupation in
Korea from 1944-46. Upon his discharge from the service, he moved
to Portland, Ore., where he had his place of business. He returned
to Wisconsin in 1993.
He was married to the former Doris Piller of Medford, they were
later divorced. He then married Betty Gault, who preceded him in
death.
Survivors include one son, Allen (Geri) of Portland, Ore. a
daughter, Jane (Phil) Cleppe of Grapevine, Texas and two step-sons,
Chuck and Marty Gault, both of Portland, Ore. Other survivors are:
four brothers, Melvin (Marian), Frank (Mary), Jack (Helen), and Jim
(Cleo) and two sisters, Helen Archambo of Abbotsford and Anne (Tom)
Talaska of Greenfield.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, George, and a sister,
Estelle Hess.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Lawton Medical Research
Center at Marshfield.
