MRS. CELIA NORRIS DIES LAST THURSDAY
Mrs. Celia Norris died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert
Schwarze, last Thursday morning, March 18, 1926.
Mrs. Norris had not been ill, but her health was gradually failing
and when Mrs. Schwarze went into her room Thursday morning she
found her lying on the floor, death having overtaken her about an
hour before.
Celia Pettet was born in Ontario, Canada, January 2, 1847. She came
to Wisconsin with her parents when she was a young girl. She was
united in marriage to Wison Merrill and two children were born to
this union. He died and three years later both children died.
On Dec. 29, 1878, she was married to Oscar R. Norris. Three
children were born to this union, they being Lewis, James and
Agnes. Mr. Norris died Dec. 5, 1889.
Mrs. Norris lived at Stockbridge and Chilton, Wis., for many years
but spent the last twenty-three years at Greenwood, Clark County,
where she died last Thursday, having reached the age of 79 years, 2
months and 14 days.
She leaves three children, Lewis Norris of Wausau, James Norris of
Wabena and Mrs. Albert Schwarze of this city. Two sisters, Mrs.
Stella Mortimer of York Center and Mrs. Chester Norton of
Mauzanola, Colo. She also leaves six grandchildren and many
friends.
Mrs. Norris was well and favorably known here by many and was a
loving wife and mother.
Funeral Services were held from the local Reformed Church Saturday
afternoon, Rev. E.G. Pfeiffer officiated. The body was laid to rest
in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Those from out of town who were he to attend the funeral were Mr.
And Mrs. Louis Norris and daughter Marie of Wausau, Mrs. Stella
Mortimer of Granton, Mr. James Norris of Wabena and Ralph Norris of
Milwaukee.
