A birthday party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beilke’s, of
Granton, on Sunday, for her father, Edward Greeler, who was 90 years old. Others
present were Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Greeler, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Lavene, Hattie
Forman of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Weiler, Mrs. Myrtle Greeler of
Marshfield, Mr and Mrs. Darrel Beilke and family, Cathy Natch and Rick Beilke,
of Granton.

Poeschel, Dominic “Nick” (NPD - 1986)
Joining the Neillsville Police Department at the start of the year was
28-year-old Dominic “Nick” Poeschel. The Eau Claire native got his start as a
military policeman. For six months of 1980 he served as a police cadet with the
Neillsville department. The past 15 months he worked as a jailer-dispatcher with
the Clark County Sheriff’s Department. He graduated from the District I Police
Training program this past October. Poeschel is single and resides in
Neillsville.

Elmhorst, Rhonda Sue (28 December 1985)
Pastor Mark Voll, of United Church of Church of Christ, officiated during the
evening service, December 28, uniting Rhonda Sue Elmhorst and Lonnie Allen Mesar
in marriage. Parents of the couple are William and Virginia Elmhorst,
Neillsville; Gayle and Tyler Urban, Neillsville; and Bill Mesar, Mosinee.
Music for the ceremony was provided by vocalists Connie Mullins and Lana
Elmhorst and instrumentalists Tanya Mullins and Eileen Zank.
Maid of honor was Lana Elmhorst, while Susie Elmhorst served as bridesmaid. The
groom was attended by bestman Lenny Mesar and groomsman Troy Urban. Ushers Tony
Elmhorst and Joel Larsen escorted wedding guests into the church.
Following the ceremony, a reception and dinner was held at the Neillsville
American Legion.
A wedding rehearsal dinner was hosted by Gayle and Tyler Urban.
A graduate of Neillsville High School, the bride holds a vocational degree in
cosmetology from Mid-State Technical Institute, Wisconsin Rapids. Also a
graduate of Neillsville High School, the groom is a seaman apprentice with the
United States Navy. After February 1986, the couple will be at home in
Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Ruzic, Kirsten L. (28 December 1985)
Kirsten L. Ruzic and Mark L. Wild, both students at Marquette University, became
husband and wife during an afternoon ceremony, December 28, at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church, Neillsville. Father Joseph Henseler witnessed the marriage, and
music was provided by Lee Schmidt, Bill Meier and Lisa Smith. Parents of the
couple are Gary and Jo Ann Ruzic, Neillsville, and Clarence and Joan Wild,
Plymouth, Wisconsin.
Escorted to the altar on the arm of her father, the bride was attired in a
white, tissue taffeta gown with sweetheart neckline and natural waist accented
with re-embroidered alencon lace, seed pearls and sequins. The softly draped
skirt was fashioned with lace matching the bodice with a touch of Chantilly lace
ruffles at the hemline, as it cascaded into a cathedral train. Her bouquet held
red roses and pink carnations.
Matron of honor was Carmen Mallegni, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Susan
Schmitt, sister of the groom; Karen Ruzic, sister of the bride; and two friends
of the bride, Linda Tibbett and Ilona Dohl. All wore wine-colored gowns of
tissue taffeta with off-the-shoulder ruffles and spaghetti straps. The nat4ural
waisted skirts featured Cinderella gathers and a cummerbund sash, accented with
bows at the hemline. Junior bridesmaids Christine and Stacy Grap wore pink gowns
identical to those of the bridesmaids.
The groom and his attendants wore grey cutaway coats with pinstripe pants and
black, grey and white striped ascots. Serving as bestman was Tim Wild, brother
of the groom. Friends Andrew Paese, Doug Weber, Mike Kozlowski, and Jack
Osieczonek were groomsmen. Guests were escorted into the church by ushers Rob
Reichert and Gary Schmidt.
Following the wedding, a reception and dance were held at Fannie’s Supper Club.
Bridal showers were hostessed by Susan Schmidt, Carmen Mallegni, Karen Ruzic,
Linda Tibbett and Judy Grap.
Mrs. Wild is a senior nursing student at Marquette. Mr. Wild, a senior in
mechanical engineering, is interning at General Motors, Saginaw Division. Both
will graduate in May.

Statz, Agnes Theresa (16 November 1985)
Agnes Theresa Statz and James Michael Erickson, both of Neillsville, were
married at 1:30 p.m., November 18, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Statz, Rt. 3 Neillsville, and Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Meier, Rt. 1 Neillsville. The Rev. Joseph Henseler officiated.
Music was provided by Stacy Holt, Dawn Thoma, and organist Ron Resong.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a white Victorian-style gown
with satin bodice, Basque waistline, and wedge wood lace matching headpiece with
floor length veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of white and burgundy rosebuds
accented with white tiger lilies, white freesias and baby’s breath.
Maid of honor was Jody Stalsberg, a friend of the bride from Neillsville.
Bridesmaids were Karen Statz, Debbie Statz, Cathy Hellenbrand, all sisters of
the bride; Diane Wilson, and Becky Roehl. All wore taffeta gowns with Venetian
sleeves and sweep trins in harvest colors. They carried cascade bouquets similar
to the bride’s with coordinating rosebuds, to match their gowns, and white tiger
lilies. Their hairpieces were designed with white tiger lilies and baby’s
breath. Marisa Statz, a niece of the bride, was flower girl. She carried a white
basket of white and burgundy rosebuds and baby’s breath.
Bestman was Charles Statz, brother of the bride from Neillsville. Groomsmen were
Rich Sundemeyer, Steve Finder, Gary Anason, Will Statz and Kevin Erickson.
Serving as ushers were Mike Statz, and Dennis Erickson. Christopher Weber was
ring bearer, a nephew of the groom.
A reception dinner and dance was held at the Neillsville American Legion Hall.
The bride is employed by Weyerhauser Company, in Marshfield, and the groom is
employed by Frank Zank, Neillsville.

Neillsville Middle School Students (Award - 1986)
Eight Neillsville Middle School students ( were honored by selection to the
united Staes Achievement Academy in the field of Agriculture for the 1985-86
school year.
Those receiving the honor were Donald Weisner, son of Leo and Florence Weisner;
Tim Altmann, son of Vern and Mariene Altmann; Beverly Friemoth, daughter of
Milton and Evonne Friemoth; Troy Schreindl, son of Vern and Eileen Schreindl;
Dale Erickson, son of Ernes and Luann Erickson; Michael Boon, son of Donald and
Carol Boon; Dawn Kalsow, daughter of Robert and Carol Kalsow; and Brian Drinka,
son of Mike and Kathy Drinka.
This award is based on knowledge in the field of agriculture and over all grade
point in all classes. Names of these students will be entered in the 1985 USAA
year book.

Mrs. Ray Flora, age 69, resident of 546 Main Street, Chippewa Falls, passed away
Wednesday evening, April 7, 1976 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Gladys Irene Davison was born February 6, 1907 in the Town of Reseburg, Clark
Co., Wisconsin, daughter of Eugene and Matilda Davison. She grew up in Clark
County and was married to Ray Floraon December 8, 1933 at Minneapolis,
Minnesota. After their marriage they moved to Milwaukee, where they lived until
1971, and then moved to Chippewa Falls, and have lived there since.
She is survived by her husband; one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 10 at 2 p.m. in Stanley, with Mr.
Ernest Detrick officiating. Burial was made on Oakland Cemetery, Stanley.

University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh officials have announced the names of student
qualifying for both Honors List and Dean’s List for the Fall semester which
ended in January.
On the Dean’s List from Thorp is Lori E. Zurakowski, Route 3, Box 66.
Students must have a grade point average of 3.75 or higher to quality for Dean’s
List.

Scott Zoromski, a junior at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, from
Thorp, has the role of “Sandy” in the university’s current production of the
comedy “The Man Who Came to Dinner,” being staged on campus April 30 – May 7,
1976.
A theatre arts major at UW-SP, Zoromski is the son of Gene and Irene Zoromski,
705 N. Washington Street, Thorp. He has also appeared in several other
production on campus.

Velva Vetterkind, 64, passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire on
Saturday, May 1, 1976.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 4th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church,
Thorp, with Rev. Robert Olson officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery,
Withee.

Romanowski, Richard (1954? – 1 May 1976)
A 22- Year old Thorp man died early Saturday, May 1, 1976, after the car in
which he was riding crashed into a power pole south of Thorp.
Richard Romanowski of Route 1 was pronounced dead on arrival by Thorp Ambulance
at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley. Three other persons were injured in the
mishap, one of them critically.
Clark County deputies said Gerald Hodorowski of Route 3, Thorp, was driving
along Country Trunk Highway M about seven miles south of Thorp when his car ran
off the road shortly after midnight.
Hodorowski pulled back onto the pavement, deputies said, but lost control of the
car. It skidded in a full circle before striking a transmission pole.
19-year old John Romanowski, the victim’s brother, was listed in critical
condition at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with severe head injuries. Mike
Sauer, 21, also was transferred to Eau Claire, in stable condition.
Hodorowski was reportedly in stable condition at Victory Memorial Hospital,
Stanley.
