LAURENCE PETER OLSON (July 14, 1907-December 16, 1988)


CHIPPEWA FALLS----Former Marshfield area resident Laurence P. Olson, 81, Chippewa Falls, died Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital, Chippewa Falls.


Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Chippewa Manor Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Colby Cemetery.


Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, again on Monday until noon and then at Manor Chapel for one hour prior to services.


A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be designated to the Chippewa Falls Masonic Lodge Building Fund.


He was born July 14, 1907, in Curtiss, a son of the late Andrew and Sarah Olson. He moved with his parents to the town of Colby in 1910 and then to Cherokee in 1914. He continued to reside in Cherokee, where he operated the family implement business with his brother.


He married the former Edna Bump June 23, 1926, in Waukegan, Ill. She survives.


In 1950, they moved to Chippewa Falls, where Mr. Olson was a sales representative for Minneapolis Moline for 10 years. He then was employed by Toycen Motors, Bloomer, until his retirement in 1973. He continued to work as a mechanic.


He was a member of the Chippewa Falls Masonic Lodge and other various lodges.


Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Laurence of Fremont, Neb. two daughter, Marcella Paxton of Alexandria, Va., and Janet Hanson of Eau Claire one brother, Byron of Colby three sisters, Edith Reil of Oshkosh, Elva VanRooy of Abbotsford and Dorothy Totzke of Schofield 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.


Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Winnefred Strebe and Grace Feldbruegge.
