ROY E. OLSON SR. (1916 - 1993)


Roy E. Olson, Sr., 76, Loyal, Clark County, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1993, at his home. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 1993, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. Rev. Joseph R. Kraly officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Pallbearers, were Herb Langfeldt, Vern Dahlby, Vern Rogstad, George Zuehlke, Gerald Kobiske, and Byron Zepplin.


Roy E. Olson was born Dec. 20, 1916, in Greenwood, to Herman and Ida (nee Anderson) Olson.


He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1936. He married Margie Manier Nov. 4, 1941, in Stanley. She survives. He was a veteran of WW II, where he was a member of the 101st Airborne Division, European Theatre. After service he moved to Neillsville, where he worked for Northern States Power for 31 years, retiring in 1979. He had been residing in Loyal since 1960. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Loyal American Legion, and Loyal Rotary.


Survivors include his wife one daughter, Sandra Kay Olson, Evanston, Ill. three sons, Herbert R. Olson, Duluth, Minn Roy E. Olson Jr., Menasha and David A. Olson, Buffalo City two sisters, Mrs. Arline Lewis, Sauk Rapids, Minn. and Mrs. Ruth Sugg, St. Cloud, Minn. and nine grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parent one sister, Lois O. Guest and one brother, Herbert H. Olson.


Rinka Funeral home handled the arrangements.
