Frieda M. Peter (1906 - 1999)

Frieda Magedaline Peter, 93, formerly of the Town of Deer Creek, died Saturday, May 15, at Mount View Care Center in Wausau. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 18, at Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford with Rev. Raymond Connor officiating.

Burial was held in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Duwayne and Bryon Gumz, Terrie and Dale Fiedler, and Bruce and Robert Peter.

The former Frieda Weinke was born January 3, 1906, in the Town of Stettin, Marathon County, to the late Julious and Martha (Wendorf) Weinke. Her marriage to Henry Peter took place on June 9, 1926, at Stettin Lutheran Church.

She and her husband farmed in the Town of Deer Creek until 1954 when they moved to Abbotsford. After the death of her husband, Henry on April 28, 1969, she moved to Colby and lived with her daughter, Elaine, for 25 years. She later moved to Wausau to be with her son, Alfred. She entered the nursing home October 19, 1998.

Survivors include her daughters, Adeline (Eugene) Fiedler of Two Rivers and Elaine (Leonard) Gumz of Colby her son, Alfred of Wausau one brother, Alfred (Arleen) Weinke of Rib Lake one sister, Edith (Henry) Lehman of Wausau a sister-in-law, Margaretta Weinke of Park Falls 12 grandchildren 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Erna Remus one brother, Fred Weinke and two great-grandchildren.
