DR. PFUNDER LAID TO REST
Dr. Frederick H. Pfunder, a former Greenwood, Clark County
druggist, died in the hospital at Rochester, Minn., Thursday, July
16, 1931, where he had been confined for some time.
Last year he submitted to amputation of one leg in a vain attempt
to regain his health.
Deceased was born Jan. 5, 1863, at Two Rivers, Wis. In his early
youth he moved to Chicago, where he attended Pharmacal schools,
working his way through. He was employed as a pharmacist in Chicago
for a long time and then came to Greenwood, where he owned and
operated a drug store.
Later he moved to Superior, where he was located for about ten
years, and then moved to Minneapolis where he worked for the Fort
Snelling Hospital.
While clerking in various drug stores, Dr. Pfunder kept working on
a formula for relief of stomach disorders. When he first evolved
his tablets, he distributed them among friends in a small way, but
soon an increasing number of persons called to ask for the tablets
and he was forced to give up his position at the hospital and
devote his time to his own business.
Last year Dr. Pfunder sold an interest in his formula to several
prominent Minneapolis business men for which he received over a
million dollars.
Deceased is survived by his wife, one son, Dr. Malcolm Pfunder and
five grandchildren. Two daughters preceded him in death.
The body was brought to Greenwood for burial Saturday afternoon and
was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery. A large number of
relatives and friends from Minneapolis were here for the funeral
and many Greenwood friends also were in attendance. Rev. D.S.
Houselholder officiated.
