Old Resident Laid To Rest


Jane Steele Rattery was born near Cedarburg, Wis. on February 13th, 1848. She grew to womanhood here, and was married to Aaron Catlin at that place in 1867. To this union were born nine children, four of which survive. In 1883 the family moved to a farm near Loyal, where they lived until 13 years ago at which time the parents moved to the village of Loyal. Mr. Catlin died here in February 1915.


The deceased leaves to mourn her loss, two brothers, C. A. Davis of Cedarburg, B. A. Davis of Stockton, Calf., a sister Mrs. R. B. Cole of West Bend, four children: Mrs. Catlin of Loyal, F. A. Catlin of Spencer, O. V. Catlin of Fond du Lac, Mrs. C. R. Hutchins of Spencer twelve grand children and thirteen great grand children, besides other relatives and a host of friends.


Mrs. Catlin was visiting at the time of her death, at the home of her daughter, near Spencer. She passed away on February 16th, 1924 after a few days illness which was followed by a heart attack.


She was a kind and living mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be long remembered as such by all who knew her.


Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Cole of West Bend, O. V. Catlin and wife of Fond du Lac, George Catlin of Appleton, Mrs. Margaret Allonson of Menasha and Mrs. T. a. Catlin of Sparta.


The funeral was held from the Methodist church at Loyal, Rev. James officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Union cemetery.
