OBITUARY OF MRS. J. ROOHR


Mrs. Gertrude Anne Steele was born at Milwaukee July 19, 1854 and died at Greenwood, Clark County Dec. 11, 1928. When a small child she moved with her parents to Duck Creek, where she grew to womanhood. In 1873 she was united in marriage to Jacob L. Roohr of West Bend. They then moved to Neillsville, Wis., from there to Colby, Wis., they then bought a farm in the town of Beaver, where they lived many years, then moving to Loyal, Wis. Mr. Roohr passed away June 14, 1921 and one daughter, Nettie Plumstead passed away July 21, 1917. Since her her husband's death she has been making her home with her children, the later years with her daughter Margaret Sumner.


She is survived by five sons and four daughters, George Roohr of Colby, Wis., William Roohr of the town of Beaver, Fred Roohr of Colby, Wis., Jacob Roohr of Medford, Wis., John Roohr of the town of Green Grove Mrs. Mary Stowe of the town of Beaver, Mrs. Margaret Sumner of Greenwood, Wis., Miss Anne Roohr of Cudahy, Wis., Mrs. Hazel Gourtcher of Ladysmith, Wis. She also has 28 grandchildren, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.


The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at Colby Saturday afternoon, Dec. 15th. The body was laid to rest in the Loyal Cemetery.


Out of town relatives here for the funeral were her sister, Mrs. Charlie Roohr, Mr. Charlie Roohr, her nephew, Louie DeGrant.
