MATHILDA GARNER


A former Willard, Clark County resident, Mrs. Ralph Garner, passed away Sept. 30, 1976, at Antelope Valley Hospital, Lancaster, Calif.

 

Funeral services were held on Oct. 2, with burial in Searles Valley Cemetery, Trona, Calif.


The former Mathilda Ule was born Oct. 18, 1908, in Lorain, Ohio, to Joseph and Mary Ule. She came to Willard with her parents in 1914.


She was educated in rural Willard schools and graduated from Greenwood High School. She received her nurses training in St. Mary's Hospital, Milwaukee, graduating as a registered nurse. Mathilda served as a lieutenant in World War II with the Army Nurse Corp in Oregon.


She was married to Ralph A. Garner, who survives her. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Timothy (Kathleen) Murphy, Whittier, Calif. two grandchildren three sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Mary) Finstad, Chevy Chase, Maryland Mrs. Joseph (Olga) Hribar, Willard Mrs. Clayton (Alice) Braun, Greenwood and two brothers, Joseph A. Ule, Plymouth and Edward K. Ule, Minneapolis, Minn.

Garner, Mathilda (18 October 1908 – 30 September 1976) With Flag

A former Willard resident, Mrs. Ralph Garner, died September 30 at Antelope Valley hospital in Chester, Ca. Funeral services were held on October 2, with burial in a Trona, Ca. cemetery.

The former Mathilda Ule was born October 18, 1908 in Lorain, Oh., to Joseph and Mary Ule. She came to Willard in approximately 1914 with her parents. She was educated in rural Willard schools and was graduated from Greenwood High School.

Later she entered St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee and graduated as a registered nurse.

She served as a Lieutenant in World War II in the Army Nurse Corp in the state of Oregon.

She was married to Ralph A. Garner, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Kathleen) Murphy; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Finstad of Chevy Chase, Md., Mrs. Joseph (Olga) Hribar of Willard and Mrs. Clayton (Alice) Braun of Greenwood and two brothers, Joseph a. Ule of Plymouth and Edward R. Ule of Minneapolis, Mn.

Mrs. Mary Finstad of Chevy Chase, Md., Edward Ule of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Clayton Braun of Greenwood attended the funeral services.
