Dr. Glendon A. Schief, 92, formerly of Thorp, died at Zastrow Care Center, Gilman, Wisconsin on Friday, April 19, 1996.
Dr. Schief was born in Medford, Wisconsin October 3, 1903 to Ernest
and Anna (Pagel) Schief. He graduated from Medord High School and
from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1927. After
graduation he moved to Thorp where he started his dental practice.
He practiced dentistry in Thorp for over 50 years.
He was director and vice president of the bank in Thorp for many
years, a member of the Wisconsin Dental Association, a member of
the Lions Club, the Masonic Blue Lodge, the Eau Claire Consistory
and the Zor Shrine.
Surviving him are a son Gale (Barbara) Schief of Medford two
grandchildren Suzanne Schief of Rhinelander and David (Shelby)
Schief of Tampa, Florida and one great grandchild Brian. He was
preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma (Dumke), three
brothers: Bill, Harry and Alwin and one sister Rose.
Services were held at the Thorp United Methodist Church, Thorp on
Monday, April 22, 1996, 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Thomas Ball
officiating. Graveside services were held at Evergreen Cemetery 1,
Medford, Wisconsin.
