CARL SCHMIDT, 77


GREENWOOD--Carl Albert Schmidt, 77, of Superior, a former Greenwood, Clark County resident, died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 20, 1970 at St. Mary's
Hospital in Superior, where he had been a patient for the past two months.


Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood and burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery. The Rev. William Richards of Calvary Baptist Church of Sauk City, will officiate. Military graveside rites are in chare of the American Legion Post of Greenwood. Visitations may be made at the Hill Funeral Home beginning Thursday afternoon.


Mr. Schmidt was born May 9, 1893, in Greenbush, Wis. He was married Nov. 3, 1923, in Granton to Vivian Severson, who preceded him in death Jan. 29, 1962. He was a cheesemaker in the Granton and Greenwood areas until 1941, when he moved to Superior. After his retirement in 1958, he moved to Middleton. He made his home with and son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Sannwald, in Superior, for the past two years.


He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Middleton Legion Post.


Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ted (Doris) Sannwald, Superior Mrs. Garth (Lorraine) Luchterhand, Loyal Mrs. Howard (Phyllis) Linebaugh, Madison and Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Bertrang, Mazomanie, Wis. three sons, Herbert, Bennett Edward and James, both of Madison nine grandchildren a brother, Fred Schmidt, Owen and a sister, Mrs. Lorinda Schafer, Oshkosh.


He was preceded in death by his wife.
