George Schug Sr. (1911 - 1999)
George Werner Schug Sr., 87, Athens, died
Thursday, Oct. 7 at St. Joseph's Hospice Unit at Marshfield.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 11 at St. John's Catholic
Church at Wuertzburg, with Rev. Len Stashek officiating. Burial
took place in St. John's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Norman Beran,
Perry Boesl, Jeffrey Gajewski, Gerald Hargraves, Claude Kreft and
Timothy Schug. Honorary pallbearers were Rossell Literski, James
Schug, Robert Schug Jr., and Roy Schug.
Kraemer Funeral Home in Wausau assisted the family with
arrangements.
George Schug Sr. was born November 27, 1911 at Glenwood City to the
late William Adam and Anna (Koenig) Schug. His marriage to Dorothy
Weiler, who survives, took place September 6, 1933 at St. Anthony's
Catholic Church in Athens. He dairy farmed for a number of years in
the Town of Johnson, Marathon County, during which time he also
worked for Universal Construction Company.
In addition to his wife, survivors include six daughters, Caroline
(Frank) Beran, Athens, Joan (Clements) Hargraves, Stratford,
Patricia (Norbert) Boesl, Brookfield, and Dorothy (Lawrence)
Gajewski, Sherry (James) Literski, and Pearl (Lyle) Guralski, all
of Athens four sons, George (Jean), Robert (Joanne), Delbert
(Joline), Delmer (Charlotte), all of Athens one step-daughter,
Marcella (Howard) Whaples, Abbotsford, Clark County, WI one
brother, Edward (Eleanor), Omro 48 grandchildren, three
step-grandchildren 77 great-grandchildren 16
step-great-grandchildren two great-great-grandchildren and six
step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and William one
sister, Sophie Kaiser grandchildren Duwayne Gajewski and Cindy
Schug and great-grandchildren Marissa and Tabatha Gajewski.
