RITES HELD FOR W.J. SCHWARZE
FORMER CITY CLERK AT GREENWOOD DIES
Greenwood - Funeral services for William Joseph Schwarze, 76, who
died Friday, January 4, 1952, were held Tuesday in Greenwood, Clark
County. The Rev. Charles A. Koch officiated and burial was made in
the Greenwood cemetery.
Pallbearers included Gilbert Meyer, Otto Abel, Frank Raik, Don
Warner, Bob McDonnell, and Jake Speich.
Mrs. Daniel Olson and Bob Unger sang "Rock of Ages" with Mrs.
Adolph Meyer at the organ.
Out-of-town relatives and friends at the services included Mr. and
Mrs. Ernest Schwarze, Monroe Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Schwarze and
Harold Schwarze, La Crosse Mr. and Mrs. William Schwarze Jr.,
Milwaukee Paul Schwarze, Racine Donald Schwarze, A.B.2, U.S.S.
Monterey, Pensacola, Fla. and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mason,
Delavan.
Mr. Schwarze was born Sept. 19, 1875, in Plymouth. He received his
education in Greenwood, and also attended the La Crosse Business
Institute. His marriage to the form Alma Rindfleisch took place at
Wausau Dec. 24, 1908. Mr. Schwarze had been a resident of Greenwood
the past 37 years.
He served as city clerk of Greenwod and was a member of the
Volunteer Fire Department for approximately 30 years, and also
belonged to Zion Reformed Church.
He is survived by six sons, Ernest, Monroe Arnold and Harold, La
Crosse William Jr., Milwaukee Paul, Racine and Donald, U.S. Navy
three daughters, Mrs. Robert Mason, Delavan Miss Gertrude Schwarze,
Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Lloyd Halvorson, Hillman, Minn. 12
grandchildren two brothers, Arthur, Greenwood and Alfred, Marshall,
Texas and a sister, Mrs. Clara Wohlfeil, Watertown.
Three brothers and a sister preceded him.
