OBITUARY FOR MARGARET SHANKS


Margaret Ann Shanks was born in Lambton County, Ontario, Canada, July 28, 1847. On Oct. 19, 1866 she was united in marriage to John Shanks. They came to Clark County, Wis. in 1871, where she has since resided. Her husband, John G. Shanks, and adopted daughter Mary Grace Shanks, both preceded her in death.


Deceased was a daughter of John and Bridget McMahon and died July 3, 1928, at the Harry Hogue home, of flu and other complications. She had reached the age of 80 years, 11 months and 5 days.


Mrs. Shanks was well known throughout the county and had a host of friends who were grieved to hear of her death. She was a good woman and ever ready to help those in need.


She leaves to mourn her loss, two brothers and one sister, Thomas McMahon of San Diego, Cal., Eugene McMahon of Greenwood and Mrs. Agnes Mead of Berkley, Cal. Numerous other near relatives and many friends also mourn her loss.
Funeral services were held from the local Catholic Church Friday forenoon, Rev. Wm. Daniels officiating. The body was taken to Neillsville, where it was laid to rest beside her father and mother.


Those from out of town were Miss Lucille McMahon of Chicago, Eugene McMahon of Menomonie, Mr. and Mrs. Will Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Smith, H.M. Root, Mrs. A.L. Devos and Mrs. Bell Howard of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Plecity of Gilman and Miss Arline McMahon of Marshfield.
