Anne Harriet Shermock, 82, of Minneapolis, Minn., died Friday, July 16, at Continental Manor Nursing Home in Abbotsford. Funeral services were held Monday, July 19, at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.


Burial took place in Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing, Minn.


Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford, Clark County, WI, handled local arrangements. Peterson-Stohlberg/Nokomis Park Chapel of Minneapolis assisted the family in Minnesota.


The former Anne H. Bergsland was born June 8, 1917, in Walnut Grove, Minn., to Halfdan and Gladys (Trip) Bergsland. She attended Abbott Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse and later a nurse practitioner. Her marriage to John "Bob" Shermock took place on August 29, 1942, in Minneapolis.


She worked for the City Health Department in Minneapolis for more than 20 years. She enjoyed informal study of wildlife and sharing music and theater.


She was an active volunteer for the Central Lutheran Church and their charity groups. She was also an advocate of underprivileged adults, sponsoring and fundraising for their needs.


Survivors include three sons, Michael (Jean) of Chaska, Fred (Carolina) of St. Cloud and Daniel Shermock of La Crosse a daughter, Peggy (Scott) Stalheim of Medford two sisters, JoAnne Weisbeck and Jean Hanson, both of Minneapolis four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
