ELI BOGDONOVICH


Funeral services for Eli Bogdonovich, 82, of Greenwood, Clark County, were held Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard, with the Rev. John Heagle in charge.


Mr. Bogdonovich passed away Monday morning, Dec. 6, 1976 at the Neillsville Home, where he had been a resident since Oct. of this year.


Burial was in the Holy Family Cemetery, with the Rinka Funeral Home in charge.


Born July 10, 1894 at Topolske, province of Croatia, Yugoslavia, he received his education there. He immigrated to the USA from Bremmen, Germany in 1906, first settling in Baltimore, Maryland.


In 1915 he was married to Stephania Papish at Duluth, Minn. In addition he also lived at Pullsburg, Mich. and after their marriage the couple lived at Gary, Ind. Until 1917. They moved to Mayville, Wis. that year, moving to Willard, Clark County in 1918 and were engaged in farming until 1939. For 35 years he was employed by the U.S. Steel Co. in Chicago, retiring in 1966.


Following his retirement he lived at Ely, Minn. and Greenwood.


He was a member of the Holy Family Church and the SNPJ Lodge.


Mrs. Bogdonovich passed away June 26, 1933. He was also preceded in death by one brother and one daughter, who died in infancy.


Surviving are three sons, Peter and Robert of Willard, Edward of Greenwood and one daughter, Mrs. Louis (Eva) Lesar, Ely, Minn. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
