EDWARD J. SLOWIAK (1922 - 2000)
Edward J. SLOWIAK, 77, of Mesa, AZ, passed
away February 21, 2000. Mr. SLOWIAK was born October 16, 1922, in
Stanley. He served as an Army Quartermaster in World War II.
On October 23, 1943, he married Irene BERDAL, and they farmed in
the South Worden area of rural Stanley. He moved his family to
Franklin Park, IL, in 1956, where he worked as a maintenance welder
for Midwest Concrete. In 1971 he moved to Mesa, AZ. He worked as a
security messenger for Mesa Public Schools until his retirement in
1985. Edward had a great love of music and shared his love and
talent, performing in polka bands in Wisconsin, Illinois, and
Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Irene, of 57 years children, Elizabeth
Ann (Itrat) HUSAIN of Elmhurst, IL, Sherlyn (Jack) O'BRIEN of West
Newbury, MA, Douglas (Susan) of Mesa, AZ, and Jacquelyn (George)
RIPLEY, of Mesa, AZ seven grandchildren sisters, Frances LISZEWSKI
and Helen SLOWIAK, both of Mesa, AZ, Dorothy SVOMA and Katie LASAGE
of Stanley and a brother, Raymond, of Cary, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Anna, and sister,
Bernice.
Services were held on February 25 in Mesa, AZ.
