MRS. HERBERT SMITH PASSES TO GREAT BEYOND

The friends of Mrs. Herbert Smith were surprised on Monday of this week when the news was received here of her death, although it was not altogether unexpected, as she had not been in robust health for some time. She is well known in the neighborhood, being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Pratt of this city and had lived here for a number of years.

Her husband Mr. Herbert Smith and she left last year to make their home in West Allis Milwaukee. Much sympathy is felt for him as he is well known in the city (Greenwood, Clark Co., WI), having worked here for a long time. The deceased was a member of the M. E. Church of this city until she went to West Allis, where she took her letter and joined the church there. She leaves to mourn her loss, to whom we extend our sympathies, her husband and two children, Herbert Smith, father and mother, three brothers, H. Pratt and F. Pratt of this city and C. Pratt of Salem, Oregon, and one sister, Mrs. Oscar Hogue of this city. She was born in New York State on July 21, 1865 and died Nov. 19, 1916 at West Allis, Milwaukee, aged 51 years, 3 months and 28 days. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1916 from the M. E. Church at Greenwood, conducted by Rev. S. R. Dunlop.
