MRS. ARTHUR SOMMERS DROWNED
Tuesday afternoon Mrs. Arthur Sommers of Reseberg and the two
cousins of her husband, Theodore and Arthur Sommers, aged 16 and 18
respectively, were driving with a single seated, two horse rig,
across Black river bridge northwest of Longwood going to Green
Grove. On the east side the high water was overflowing the approach
and in some way the team drove to one side, throwing the rig into
the water. Mrs. Sommers disappearing in the depths. The boys and
team managed to get out. Alarm was at once given and diligent
search made to find the body. Yesterday forenoon the body was found
about twelve fee below where the rig was overturned and at once
taken by Wm. Sommers, the father-in-law, to Green Grove.
The drowning is a most sad affair and casts a gloom over the entire
northern part of the county where the lady was well known.
Mrs. Sommers was formerly Ida Meyers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Meyers of Green Grove and was a lady of excellent character
and of a most lovable disposition. The bereaved husband, to whom
she was married only a few month ago, and the parents have the
heartfelt sympathy of all who learn of the sad affair.
