Edward R. Sopiarz, 82, passed away on Friday, August 6, 1999 in Tampa, Florida.
Dr. Sopiarz, formerly of Thorp, served in the U.S. Army Air corps
during World War II and afterwards earned his bachelor s, master's
and doctoral degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He
taught economics at the University of Toledo from where he retired
in 1989 after 34 years.
He is survived by his wife, Irma and son Ed., both of Tampa
sisters: Val Lipinski and Helen McHeffey of Thorp and Dolores
Jensen of Eau Claire brothers: John of Thorp and Leon of
Chicago.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 4, 1999 at 10:00
a.m. in St. Hedwig's Chapel, Thorp.
