STANKE
Albern Edgar Ed Stanke, 81, of Rice Lake died Nov. 10, 1999 at his home. A memorial service was held Sunday from the Jarocki Funeral Chapel in Rice Lake, with Rev. Rick Lund officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Braun Settlement Cemetery in the Town of Warner, Clark County.
Mr. Stanke was born June 14, 1918 to Albern and Clara (Hoenisch)
Stanke at Wausau, Wis., where he grew up and graduated from Wausau
High School in 1936. He attended vocational school for 2 years and
then worked for First National Bank in Wausau until he was drafted
into the Army in March 1941. On Sept. 18, 1941 he married Almira
Horn in Pine City, Minn. After discharge from the Army in July
1945, Mr. Stanke worked for the Marathon, Corp. in Wausau for 22
years as a safety director. He later worked 6 years in the
ammunition plant at the Olin Corp. in Prairie du Sac and 10 years
for the Wausau Insurance Co. in Rice Lake. After retirement, he was
an active member of the Rice Lake Golden K and the Turtleback golf
club. Mr. Stanke was a WW II veteran and a member of the Rice Lake
Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Almira a son, Dennis of West Salem a
daughter, Judith Luebke of Appleton six grandchildren a great
grandchild a brother, Myron of Appleton and three sisters, Enid
Raspel and Sandra Tarnow, both of Wausau, and Janice Morgan of
Hazel Green.
