Hans Stigen was born in Ringeba Gudbansdalen, Norway, January 17, 1859, and died July 25, 1920 at the age of 61 years, 6 months, 9 days. The funeral took place Wednesday from the home and burial was made in Riverside cemetery, Rev. Crow, officiated.
He was baptised and confirmed in Norway by Pastor Haell in the
Lutheran Evangelical faith. He came to this country in May, 1880
residing in Black River Falls where he worked for several years. In
1890 he came to Thorp and in 1895 he was united in marriage to
Gertrude Bernhard of Thorp. He bought a farm five miles west of
Withee, and settled on it after his marriage, residing there until
his death.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and seven children, Frank,
Josie, Harry, Hattie, Mary, Oscar and Nina. Besides two sisters and
two brothers, Mrs. Myrin of the town of Reseburg, and the others of
Norway.
