OBITUARY
George B. Thomas was born in Cass County,
Indiana Oct. 19, 1864 and departed this life at Appleton, Wis., at
the St. Elizabeth Hospital, May 9, 1922 after an illness of four
days, with blood poison and sugar diabetes. He came to Vernon
County, Wis. with his parents when a small boy and resided here
till the last few years.
He was married in 1883 to Lizzie Heinrich. To this union was born
six children, two of which died in infancy. Two sons and two
daughters survive, Mrs. Newlun, Mrs. John Williams, Melvin and
William, all of Vernon County. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Wm.
Butterfield of Marek, Wis.
His wife died March 9, 1909. He was again married the 17th of
September 1909 to Miss Phoebe Ralph. To this union was born one
child, Hazel, who still survives. The second wife died Dec. 5, 1918
and the family is now orphaned.
George Thomas was a resident of Vernon County for many years, where
he was a good neighbor and highly respected citizen, but death is
nor respecter of persons and he heeded the call. The funeral
services were held at Burr, Rev. Hartsburgh officiating.
