George B. Thomas was born in Cass County, Indiana Oct. 19, 1864 and departed this life at Appleton, Wis., at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, May 9, 1922 after an illness of four days, with blood poison and sugar diabetes. He came to Vernon County, Wis. with his parents when a small boy and resided here till the last few years.

He was married in 1883 to Lizzie Heinrich. To this union was born six children, two of which died in infancy. Two sons and two daughters survive, Mrs. Newlun, Mrs. John Williams, Melvin and William, all of Vernon County. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Wm. Butterfield of Marek, Wis.

His wife died March 9, 1909. He was again married the 17th of September 1909 to Miss Phoebe Ralph. To this union was born one child, Hazel, who still survives. The second wife died Dec. 5, 1918 and the family is now orphaned.
