Death of Mary Catherine Vanderport
Mary Catherine Vanderport, Thorp, WI, former Gilman area resident, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at Oakbrook Manor, Thorp.
Her funeral was held at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church,
Gilman, WI, Saturday, December 4, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. with Father
Philip Juza officiating. Burial was in Meadowbrook Cemetery,
Gilman. Visitation was from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Gilman Funeral
Home. A Rosary service was held 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the
Funeral Home.
Mary was born April 30, 1906, in Valley Park, MO to John Joseph and
Magdaline (Raboss) Komanec. The Komanec family moved to
Pennsylvania from Missouri and then to the Gilman area where she
grew up and attended the area schools. She was married to James
Vanderport on September 27, 1949 at Superior, WI. They lived in the
Superior and Gilman areas. In 1974, they moved to Gilman. Jim died
on September 16, 1979. She lived in Gilman until 1987 when she
moved to Thorp, WI. She has been a resident of Oakbrook Manor in
Thorp for the last 2 years.
Survivors include sister, Margaret (Harry) Badzinski of Thorp, WI,
sister, Barbara Bertha Kliscz of Gilman, WI, brother, Joseph
(Betty) Komanec of Gilman, WI, brother, Paul (Frances) Komanec of
Gilman WI, sister, Louisa (Chester) Nygren of Marinette, WI, sister
Magdaline (Harry) Shewczyk of Gilman, WI. Mary is preceded in death
by her parents 2 brothers: Vincent and John and 1 sister Anna.
