MISS L. VATES DIES AT BETHEL----RITES AT GREENWOOD FOR PIONEER RESIDENT.
 

Greenwood--Miss Louise Mariam Vates, 77, Greenwood, died Thursday at 9 p.m. at the Bethel Convalescent Home. She had been in failing health for the past few years and had lived at the home for three years.


Funeral rites will be conducted by the Rev. Lee Holmes at the Grace Methodist Church here at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be made in the Greenwood cemetery.


The body will repose at the Stabnow Funeral Home beginning tonight.


Miss Vates was born Sept. 3, 1873, at Danville, Ill., and came to Greenwood at the age of 6 with her parents. She received her education here since that time with the exception of several years when she lived two miles north of Loyal.


She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and a sister. Four cousins, all of Danville, Ill., survive.
